It is on the eastern side of the structure, and has bedroom and kitchen windows that overlook Lake Michigan and the “north beach”. Eagles grace the trees to the east, and frequently hang out on the beach within earshot of the structure. Deer and other wildlife call this area “home”. The winner will have a unique opportunity to experience not only the tranquility and majesty of the lighthouse, but also the incomparable lakeshore with sandy beaches that rival any beach world-wide. There is nothing over a mile to the south, and for as far as the eye can see to the north. The east is wilderness and the west is, frankly, water. This place is about as good as it gets. While there, you’ll get a “behind the scenes” tour of the lighthouse to help you appreciate the inner workings and history of this important Civil War-era site and also enjoy the peace and tranquility of our picturesque beach.
